Then Volunteer Firefighting may be what you are looking for.
 

Fill out an application (available on-line or at GFVC). Once completed, submit the application in-person, along with a $2.00 application/membership fee. (This fee is waived for Jr. Member Applicants.)  A ?Criminal Background Check is required, which is done at the State Bureau of Identification (SBI) in Dover, DE.  A form will be provided by the Chairperson of the Membership Committee. (This is waived for Jr. Member Applicants.)

If you are transfering from another department within Delaware, you will need to submit a letter of transfer from your current Fire Chief.
